Environmental Indicator Analysis Tool |
|
Welcome to the Environmental Indicator Analysis Tool (EIAT). This tool will enable you to select environmental pressure, state and impact indicators which will help you develop an indicator based transboundary diagnostic analysis (TDA) in accordance with the GEF IW TDA/SAP process.
EIAT will help identify:
The indicators can be accessed through the list of 22 KEY TRANSBOUNDARY ISSUES underlying either one of the 5 MAJOR CONCERNS related to the degradation of transboundary waters and their associated living systems. Alternatively, the indicators can be accessed directly.
The TDA TTT should screen all the indicators in EIAT and select those that are relevant using the following criteria:
In addition the TTT should be encouraged to suggest other appropriate indicators that are not present in EIAT but are considered essential in order to accurately reflect the situation in the region.
In order to accurately screen all the indicators, a simple scoring mechanism can be used. For example:
+ Relevant to the region + + Relevant to the region/information available + - Relevant to the region/information not available - Not relevant to the region
Based on the outcome of this screening exercise, a comprehensive list of PRESSURE, STATE and IMPACT indicators can be downloaded from EIAT. The status indicators will be used in the TDA section describing the region. Impact indicators will be used to describe the impacts of the each transboundary issue in the region. The pressure indicators will be used to substantiate the causal chains developed for the priority transboundary issues. In addition, some of the indicators developed may ultimately be used as monitoring tools in the SAP (e.g. indicators of long-term ecological quality objectives (EcoQOs).
