Nutrient inputs
Nutrients enter the Baltic Sea either in water flowing
into
the sea, or from the atmosphere. Rivers and coastal
point
sources such as urban and industrial wastewater
outlets
account for most of the nutrient load - in fact three
times more
nitrogen and ten times more phosphorus than the
atmospheric input.
