ANNOUNCEMENTS
CfE News Update -- Anthony Hay takes reins from Mark Bain as CfE
Director
Anthony G. Hay, Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology, has been named
Interim Director of the Cornell Center of the Environment (CfE), effective July 1, 2007. Hay
succeeds Mark B. Bain, director of CfE since 2003. The university-wide CfE was established in
1991 to facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations among scientists and professors from Cornell
and partnering institutions to apply new knowledge to environmental problems and needs around
the world.
The CfE is most grateful to Dr. Mark Bain for his leadership and guidance over the past four
years, and wish him all the best as he returns to teaching and research in the Department of
Natural Resources.
Cornell Professor noted in Environmental News
Mark Bain, a quantitative aquatic biologist and ecosystem scientist in the department of Natural
Resources, has been published in the September 2007 issue of National Geographic. A complete
article can be viewed on [National Geographic's website
