Databases on Coastal and Marine Environmental Institutions & Experts
In the Northwest Pacific Region
The NOWPAP Institutions Database and
Experts Database are developed by using
M i c r o s o f t M y s q l s o f t w a r e a n d p h p 3
programming language, which can be
accessed through the Internet. The main
functions, such as searching, modifying,
deleting and adding, can be operated on-line.
So any user, from any location, can access
the information in the NOWPAP Institutions
Database and Experts Database.
The current information in the databases is
based on the contents of the book "Directory
of coastal and Marine Environmental
Institutions in the Northwest Pacific Region",
which was published by UNEP in February
1998. The original data source for the book
came from the questionnaire circulated by
UNEP EAP AP in 1998 in the region.
A new questionnaire for updating information
in the databases will be developed by DINRAC
and circulated to the four National Focal Points
in the members of NOWPAP in the near future.
The new databases and on-line search will
be developed according to the new
questionnaires. It is expected the up-to-date
information in the two databases could be
assessable on-line at the end of 2003.
