Partnership Program comprises two elements:
•The World Bank Investment Fund for Nutrient Reduction in the Black Sea/Danube Basin
•
•Two UNDP/UNEP Regional Projects designed to enhance capacity of individual riparian countries and their Commissions (Black Sea Commission and Danube Commission) and improve policy framework
The project will assist the Government of Romania to:
·promote the adoption of environment-friendly agricultural practices by farmers’ associations, family farms and individual farmers in the Calarasi Judet (county)
·promote ecologically sustainable land use and management in the Boianu-Sticleanu Polder, and ecological restoration of the neighboring Calarasi-Raul Polder to act as a filter and reduce nutrient discharge to the Danube
·strengthen national policy and regulatory capacity
·promote public awareness and mechanisms for replicability.
The project will support activities both at the Judet – Calarasi County – as well as at the National level.
