National Level Strenthening of Policy &Regulatory Capacity:

•Ministry of Environment (MOE) and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Services (MARA) prepared their initial review of the status of environmental legislation covering, the Nitrate Directive legislation and certification standards for organic farming.  The GEF funding  could support work on application of the Nitrates Directive, the development of a Code of Good Agricultural Practices and measures required to promote the development of Organic Farming.  With regard to Integrated Pest Management, this would be covered by the World Bank funding.
