3.2 Improve legal mechanisms for pollution reduction & sustainable natural resource use


v. Evaluate existing legal/regulatory structure re: pollution and resource use $60,000

vi. Develop discharge limits; explore pollution permitting schemes including pilot project(s) $180,000

vii. Review and work to harmonize regional water quality standards for ground and surface water $80,000

viii. Determine & enhance legal status of EIAs in project eval. processes; test EIA-pilot project(s) $130,000

Objective 4. Develop international monitoring and river basin management system







4.1 Develop international monitoring system for transboundary pollutants

ii. Develop representative system for estab. transboundary nature reserves, incl. demo project(s) $150,000

iii. Review legal and regulatory framework for biodiversity protection $50,000

5.2 Improve land use management and promote sustainable agriculture/ aquaculture


viii. Promote ecological rehabilitation; test phyto-remediation appoaches via pilot projects $150,000

ix. Identify and test measures to improve soil fertility and improve irrigated lands; pilot project(s) $150,000

x. Conduct feasibility studies for fisheries rehabilitation & sustainable aquaculture $80,000
