There are 4 key outputs intended to be achieved under the subcomponent 1.1 (Fishery Monitoring Coordination and Enhancement)

In the past year 4 new updates have been developed and instigated for the TUFMAN data management system, which will lead to improved and enhanced standard of reporting. These updates include EEZ breakdowns, best estimates for catches, and telex report summaries. The TUFMAN system is continually being improved and updated, with a comprehensive review of data entry forms currently underway to ensure proper robustness, data validation, formatting, reports and data entry. In addition to these a new observer data module is being developed as well as a video training manual for using the TUFMAN system. Future work will include development of data registry and vessel modules.

This table shows activities completed since the start of 2005. Good progress is being made in this respect with most of the gaps apparent in the table to be filled in the next 12-18 months. Specifically, excellent progress has been made with respect to the installation and updating of TUFMAN and CES across nearly all countries, as well as in-country visits and attachments to facilitate training in use of these systems. Technical equipment (computers etc) have been provided in instances where a need to do so (and allow use of TUFMAN system) has been identified, and financial support towards database management positions (and more recently data entry positions) in country has been provided to countries where there was a significant need for that.

Future work under this output includes the completion of National Tuna Data Procedures Documents and in-country data audits.
