Task 1.2. Accomplishment detailed mapping in scale 1:1000 of the inlet and outlet points, including inlet-outlet channels for the project areas of protected Brushlen-Kalimok Wetland

Accomplished activities

  1. Detailed mapping in scale 1:1000 of the inlet and outlet points, including inlet-outlet channels for the project areas of protected Brushlen-Kalimok Wetland.

The mapping (survey + processing and finalizing) has been done simultaneously for both areas in the following periods:

Field works 14-25 April 2003

Teams:

Brushlen-Kalimok – Eng. Yordan Kirov

Alexander Kirov

Supporting staff – 3 persons

Processing and finalizing 12-20 May 2003

Eng. Radoslav Pavlov

Three inlet-outlet facilities are envisaged for design in the area of the protected wetland – points D, С and Е of the Danube River waterside, as well as point F of the inland area.

The operating geodetic basis:

The part of the network concerning the present task is connected with four inlet-outlet facilities envisaged for design.

Every area from the inlet-outlet facilities is assured with a few points from the Secondary geodetic CONTROL NETWORK as follows:

D – with points 1 and 2.

C – with points 23, 24 and 25

E – with points 19, 20, 21

F – with points 13 and 14

Zone of point D – sheet No 1

The outlet points for the mapping of the area are points 1 and 2 from the Secondary geodetic CONTROL NETWORK.

The area around the outlet channel (with width 100 m) is mapped from the north border dike to the Danube riverbed, the Pumping station, and facilities in north direction from the dike. The consistency of the detailed points is for scale 1:1000.

The strip of land with width 100 m and length 15 000 m of the inland dike starts from this zone (D), the latest (zone ‘D’) is included in the strip of land and belongs to sheet No 1.

Zone of point E – sheet No 20

The outlet points for the mapping of the area are points 19, 20 and 21 from the Secondary geodetic CONTROL NETWORK.

The area around the outlet channel (with width 100 m) is mapped from the north border dike to the Danube riverbed, the Pumping station from south, and facilities in north direction from the dike. The consistency of the detailed points is for scale 1:1000.

The strip of land with width 100 m and length 15 000 m of the inland dike ends in this zone (E), the latest (zone ‘E’) is included in the strip of land and belongs to sheet No 20.

Zone of point C – sheet No 21

The outlet points for the mapping of the area are points 23, 24 and 25 from the Secondary geodetic CONTROL NETWORK.

All situational and terrain elements are mapped including a channel from the Danube dike to the Danube River riverbed.

This zone is included in sheet No 21.

Zone of point F – sheet No 23

The outlet points for the mapping of the area are points 13 and 14 from the Secondary geodetic CONTROL NETWORK.

All situational and terrain elements, dike and channel branches are mapped. This zone (F) is part of the area of the strip of land with width 100 m and length 15 000 m of the inland dike and it is included in this strip of land and in sheet No 13.

2. Review and specifying the methodology and approach for task implementation

The mapping of these areas is carried out by geodetic total stations (TS) with angular accuracy 10¢¢ and length 2mm+2ppm х D (4mm/1km), polar method. This decision is a result from the presence of afforesting in these areas; otherwise difficulties will arise using GPS receivers in real time (visibility to at least 5 satellites at the same time is required for this regime).

Two or three points are definite at open places using GPS for every of these areas and proceeding from them the polar mapping method is realized using TS. The method guarantees the precision of the detailed points in connection with outlet, situation and high no more that 1-2 cm.

Some parameters of the prepared area maps:

The zone maps are draw up as standard mapping sheets for scale 1:1000 with measurements 80 х 50 cm and standard framed and unframed forming.
